George Fox University (GFU) is one of the latest institutions to follow along with teenagers and influencers in using TikTok to reach a wider audience.

As many colleges have taken to TikTok to recruit prospective students and keep current students involved, the marketing team at GFU is working to do the same–but better. According to marketing student intern Tierney Zubchevich, a group of student interns is actively formulating strategic plans to “post regularly and cover multiple aspects of the university, including academics, student life, information and resources, and fun!”

The GFU TikTok page has grown significantly over recent months as the team produces more content and works to keep up with the trends. Zubchevich recognizes there’s a balance between providing information and incorporating fun: both “the veggies and dessert.”

As Zubchevich and her team work together to create engaging, like-worthy content, they look forward to the future of implementing the “Be Known” promise on TikTok. “We want to get more students involved, whether sharing a day in their life or a project they are proud of,” said Zubchevich .

As the team works to get more students involved, Jeremy Lloyd, the director of marketing content and storytelling, said, “For current students, we hope that it becomes a community-building tool where we feature people from all over campus.”

The GFU TikTok marketing team has many goals for the platform. “Our long-term goal for TikTok, from an admissions perspective, is that prospective students could go to our page and find everything they need to fall in love with George Fox,” said Lloyd.

Overall, the team strives to “give an insider view of what it’s like to be a Bruin through these short-form videos,” said Zubchevich.
