While some students rarely have the funding or the time to attempt a mid-semester excursion into the bountiful Northwest, an annual respite of seven full days of sun and joy shines down on those who are tired of doing homework in the form of spring break. How to spend that respite is up to you.

Flipping through clothes and through several sources of brands, Reagan Swier, who was then just a high school student, traveled down the rabbit hole to understand how her everyday attire was made. Behind the racks of jackets, jeans and jewelry at a store like Forever 21 exists a hidden story of third-party manufacturers in foreign countries abusing their workers.

Rob Simpson willingly, even eagerly, departed sunny California to take over management of the new Student Activity Center at George Fox University. He is passionate about college students, rock climbing, and Haagen-Dazs dark chocolate ice cream bars.

A two-semester course for all junior engineers focuses on an action in which George Fox University (GFU) takes great pride: service. 

“Writer’s Block Party” is a short film being created by students in the Advanced Production Workshop class at George Fox University. 

George Fox University (GFU) students and staff participated in the eighth annual Martin
Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on Jan. 15. Contrary to GFU’s Serve Day during fall semester, this volunteer opportunity is optional yet it is just as meaningful. The Day of Service intends to have students working as a community for justice and the service of others to honor King’s legacy.

Geneva García, a senior at George Fox University (GFU) never thought she would direct a film. She imagined herself editing or doing cinematography, but never directing. 

I am a professional procrastinator if there ever was one. As cliché as that sounds from a college student, I believe we can all relate on some level to putting off an assignment or reading until the night before its due, then flying into class feeling accomplished for the perfunctory work that we know will land us a solid “A-.”

When time came for Student Director Audrey O’Farrell to select George Fox University’s (GFU) winter play, she had no doubt “Tongue of a Bird” was going to be her story. The meaning, the strength of the all-women cast, the address of mental health and suicide—the message needed to
be heard.

In her first year at George Fox University (GFU), Heather Ohaneson is looking to bring a new voice and fresh perspective to contemporary politics in the classroom. She is passionate about civic engagement, very happy to be at GFU, and wants students to understand the importance of politics as it relates to our culture today.
