In the attic of Coffee Cottage, up a narrow staircase of creaky floorboards and dusty windowsills, there is a small attic room. Posters scatter the ceiling, covering the wood paneling underneath, and Christmas lights brighten the dim room. A large table is in the center with multiple computers and notebooks on top of it. George Fox University (GFU) students are furiously typing away at the keyboard or scribbling down notes, but they are not working on homework. They are working on something bigger.

On November 2, the Chehelam Cultural Center (CCC) hosted a celebration of Dia de los Muertos. This was the end of a series of events throughout October celebrating Latin American Heritage Month.

A 10-foot-tall, 800-pound, bronze grizzly bear sculpture now stands in the middle of the new Alumni Plaza nestled in between the football field the south end of Stoffer Family stadium. At 11 p.m. on Oct. 5, George Fox University (GFU) unveiled the sculpture to the community, giving out t-shirts and stickers to commemorate the evening.

On October 20, people across the world participated in the Walk for Freedom march, including Meghan Elford, a student at George Fox University (GFU).

Construction for a new George Fox University (GFU) indoor tennis facility at Austin Sports Complex began in the summer of 2017. However, the tennis facility still hasn’t opened for use, as GFU has yet to acquire an occupancy permit.

The George Fox University (GFU) Men’s Tennis Team succeeded in claiming both the singles and doubles All-American titles at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northwest Regional Championships in Walla Walla, Washington on Sept. 24.

During the summer of 2018, George Fox University (GFU) Plant Services staff and Portland-based contractor, General Tree Service, felled 26 problematic trees across campus that were long past their expiration date.

Over the course of the summer, many students came together to prepare for the opening of the Hadlock Student Center (HSC), George Fox University’s (GFU) new 48,000 square foot space designated for athletics, clubs and other school activities.

This fall, George Fox University (GFU) added the Biomedical Engineering (BME) major.

With the first week of official practices behind them, the first George Fox University (GFU) swim team is excited for their inaugural competitive swim season.
