YouTubers Launch Tree-Planting Movement

A worldwide philanthropic movement dubbed “Team Trees” has raised over $14 million since Oct. 25 in an effort to plant 20 million trees by 2020. The fundraiser was started by YouTubers MrBeast and Mark Rober through the Arbor Day Foundation, which has pledged to plant one tree for every dollar donated.

George Fox’s Fusion Club

If you happen to be familiar at all with the Asian American experience, there might be a club for you. Fusion, a multicultural club under the International Resource Center (IRC), cultivates a community for Asian American students. It meets at the IRC at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month. There is free food and a comfortable area for people of color to share their experiences and point of view on being Asian American or whatever the meeting’s prompt may be.

Students to Form Congress on Racial Reconciliation

In mid-February, selected students from George Fox University (GFU) will attend the 2020 Student Congress on Racial Reconciliation (SCORR) at Biola University in La Mirada, Cal. The Intercultural Resource Center (IRC) seeks to select students to engage in conversations about diversity in a biblical and academic setting. The SCORR team trains together before and after the conference to learn why racial reconciliation is important and how to start similar conversations on campus. The conference takes place Feb. 22 and 23.
