The Bachelor: Conspiracy Theories

Reported by Kylie Bean

7.5 million viewers. 24 seasons. 246 episodes. It’s the drama-filled television series we all know and love, “The Bachelor,” and this season has debatably been one of the most volatile of all.

If you haven’t heard, “The Bachelor” is a reality TV series where one lucky man pursues a relationship with multiple female contestants in an effort to find true love. He starts with a pool of roughly 25 women and slowly eliminates candidates until he finally proposes.

There are usually spoilers detailing the bachelor's final decision by the time the show is broadcasted. However, this is the first time in several years that the season finale hasn’t been spoiled. What’s even more intriguing is that it’s been publicized as having “drama like no other season.”

It’s thrilling--and a little concerning--to think of a situation that could be so ridiculous, outrageous, and shocking that we haven’t already seen it in the other 23 drama-filled seasons. This excitement and mystery has led all “The Bachelor” watchers to ponder the numerous possibilities for this season's outcome. I’ve compiled a list of the best conspiracy theories, so you don’t have to.

One theory is that the bachelor, Peter Weber, doesn’t end up with any of the contestants! Rather, he chooses to pursue “The Bachelor” producer, Julie LaPlaca. It seems crazy, but there’s actually a substantial amount of evidence supporting their romantic relationship, like the fact that she celebrated New Year’s Eve with Weber’s family! When ABC Executive Producer Rob Mills was questioned by Entertainment Tonight, he stated that he could not “confirm or deny about whether he (Peter) ends up with a producer.”

At the end of nearly every episode, there’s a teaser of Peter’s mom crying and exclaiming, “Don’t let her go!” and “Bring her home!” Fans have two possible theories to explain Mrs. Weber’s reaction. In this season, Mrs. Weber has only met two of the ladies: contestant Madison Prewett and Peter’s ex-lover, Hannah Brown.

Prewett was Peter’s first date on “The Bachelor” and seemingly made a good impression on Weber’s loved ones when she attended his parents’ vow renewal. A theory states that Peter decides to propose to Prewett, but due to unforeseen circumstances (like a pregnancy from an eliminated contestant) he is forced to make a different decision. Fans think that Mrs. Weber’s partiality to Prewett is what elicits her sad reaction.

Everyone knows how Peter fell head over heels for and is possibly still in love with Hannah Brown. Due to Brown’s multiple appearances throughout this season, it wouldn’t be surprising if she returned and tried to make up for last season's disappointing ending. In fact, some theories claim that the two have been together this entire time!

With so many theories, the possibilities for this season's finale seem endless. How do you think it will end?
